Poker Basics

For the peoples who are unfamiliar about poker games and who want a refresher this is a unique basic of poker games to make poker games easy to play and understand. Poker is a game of five card hand hands dealt from a 52 card deck. All poker games are generally played with eight to ten players per table. Many poker games such as seven card stud provide players with seven cards to play. Poker games are offered in no limit or pot limit varities, every poker games start with deposit of antes or placing blinds. Antes means to deposit a fixed amount of money according to the game limit. Blinds are only used in holdem variations and they are meant to forced bets before any cards are dealt, in poker games you have to simply win the pot money by winning the pot.


On all type of poker games there are mainly five main strategies through which poker games are played. These five strategies are as follows:

• CHECK
• BET
• FOLD
• CALL
• RAISE

• CHECK
If there is no wager on the current betting round, the round of checking passes to one player to another clockwise. There is no profit to interest on the pot, only the current right to bet, after all the players check in a betting round the round is completed after that.

• BET
If on the current betting round if there is no wager left yet, player has the option to bet. And after a player bets the player next to him moving clockwise has the option to fold, raise or call.

• FOLD
The fold act in the poker benefits to the pot interest; the player who folds his card does not have the option to wager any further money during current poker hand. And he cannot win that poker hand either.

• CALL
If any player has made bet in current round of poker, the other player has the option to call. But for calling the player requires to match the current bet made by his opponent.

• RAISE
After having a bet in current poker round, the player has option to raise maintaining their match to the current bet. Raise means simply to make a bet greater than the first one, and then other players could call the raise or raise again to maintain interest in the pot.

When the betting round ends next final betting round starts called as showdown. This is the final round of the game and players show there hand one by one and the best hand according to poker hand rankings wins the pot. There could be one situation more if a player bets or raises and all other players fold or any other player does not call to players bet. In that situation the player who has done bet wins the whole pot amount.
